UMATILLA — The Mac-Hi Pioneers won the Umatilla Invite on Saturday, which was played at Hermiston's Armand Larive Middle School and in Umatilla.
The Pioneers claimed 35 team points to beat out second-place Sherman by nine. Umatilla was third with 15 points, Weston-McEwen was fourth with 14 and Condon was fifth with 13.
Mac-Hi won 17 matches and won the doubles title with Anthony Martinez and Kevin Ochoa.
The duo defeated Pioneer teammates Luis Alvarez and David Camareno 6-3, 6-3 in the finals and had dropped just four sets in their two previous matches.
Umatilla’s Pedro Ortiz and Cole Reiner placed fourth.
Sherman’s Scott Stroud beat Weston-McEwen’s Daniel Winn in the singles final 6-0, 6-2.
Condon’s Marlon Willecke was third after beating Stanfield’s Michael Gehrke 8-2 in third-place match.
Umatilla’s Jacob Lowrance won the consolation title by beating Weston-McEwen’s Josh Lambert 8-5.
