UMATILLA - The Umatilla Vikings came away with three wins and one loss against visiting teams from Helix and Weston-MeEwen on Thursday April 23, 2009. The Umatilla ladies defeated Helix 4-1 and lost to Weston-McEwen 4-0. The men defeated Helix 4-1 and Weston-McEwen 5-3.

Prep Roundup: Vikings take pair of wins at home

UMATILLA - Against teams from Helix and Weston-McEwen the Umatilla boys' tennis team was able to go deep into its lineup and came away with a pair of wins, beating the Grizzlies 4-1 and the TigerScots 5-3.

Cesar Guzman and Alan Lougee led the way in the singles as the No. 1 and No. 2 players for the Vikings, sweeping their opposition from both Helix and Weston-McEwen. Against the Grizzlies, the Vikings' singles players pulled off the sweep, losing just one match in doubles play.

The TigerScots' Alan Ford was the biggest bump in the road for Umatilla, taking a 6-2 win against Vinny Stefani and a 6-1 win over Jacob Lowrance.

Umatilla Invite

The Boys did well at the Umatilla Invite winning as a team by almost doubling the competition.

The Boys Finished as follows

Singles Curtis Watson 2nd Place

Cesar Guzman tied for 5th

Alan Lougee Tied for 7th

For the Doubles

Mario Aparicio Luis Magana and Edgar Lemus and Adolfo Campos finished tied for 1st with a Championship to be held This week.

Jairo Claustro and Willie Campos finished 4th.
