UMATILLA 5, IONE 1 — In Ione, the Umatilla Vikings won a match that was closer than the final score on Friday in a tune-up for today’s Helix Tournament.
Umatilla’s Martin Rubio and Christian Mendoza won the No. 1 and 2 singles matches 8-5, respectively, over Kevin Kostela and Tom Holland. Ione’s win came in No. 2 singles with Gus Peterson and Emmanuel Wolbert beat Nick Hodge and David Ortiz 8-4.

UMATILLA 7, IONE 1 — In Ione, the Umatilla Vikings’ top players took care of business in a lopsided win on Friday as both teams prepared for today’s Helix Tournament.
Naomi Castanon won No. 1 singles 8-3 over Shannon Metcalfe; Susan Routson beat Mary McElligott 8-1 in No. 2 singles; and Castanon and Diana Manriquez made quick work of Metcalfe and Kylie McElligott 8-3 in No. 1 doubles.
Ione’s win came at No. 4 singles when Loise Torrell beat Anna Linn 8-1.
