PREP?ROUNDUP: Locals athletes set for semifinals in tennis districts

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Special District 4 tennis tournament was in full swing Friday and many local players are primed to make a run at the district championship.
In boys singles play, Luca Barro of Riverside won his quarterfinal match over Levi Henderson of Helix 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the semis. Anthony Martinez of McLoughlin will meet Umatilla's Curtis Watson in the semis after a 6-2, 6-0 win over Sherman County's Ben Van Gilder.
Other quarterfinal results were not available by press time.
In boys doubles, Umatilla's Mario Aparicio and Luis Magana will meet Ione's Arthur Lima and R.J. Ramos in the semis. Other match results were not available.
Irene Routson will meet Ione's Vanesa Godolleova in the girls singles semis while Ione's Brenna Rietmann will face Sherman County's Melanie Belshe.
In doubles, Stanfield has two teams in the semis. Erica Gehrke and Jessie Carrillo will meet Kari Papineau and Crystal McMurray of Helix. Umatilla will send Kaitlin Kennedy and Megan Hendon to face Stanfield's Ina Lopez and Luci Alvarez.
